GET THE OVER-SIXTIES TEE SHIRT - IT'S KEWL!
THE UPPER CHAMBER
Since Tony abolished the House of Lords, no very sensible suggestion has been made as to what to put in its place. I propose to have a Parliament of Grannies.
EQUAL MEN AND WOMEN IN LOWER CHAMBER This would constitute the upper chamber. In the lower chamber, I would have equal numbers of men and women - in order to do this, and have the total number of mps remain the same, the constituencies as they stand would be doubled in size (two amalgamated into one) and there would be a male and a female member for each constituency. If it is not felt necessary to keep numbers at the same level, then let the constituencies remain the same, and each return a male and female member.
THE PARLIAMENT OF GRANNIES
grannies.jpg (63738 bytes) The Upper Chamber would be apolitical - no political parties or allegiances allowed. Only persons proven to be grannies can sit in this house. There will be sensible, open debate on all measures passed by the lower house, and if the grannies don't think it makes sense, it doesn't get passed.
APOLOGIES TO GRANDADS Apologies are extended to grandads, but it is felt their place is on the allotment while the grannies put the world to rights. However, if you think otherwise, you can email Drogon
