Trip to Ireland Feb 14-21
|
|
On
the morning of the 14th I woke up early, then dozed off again for a
little while. I dreamed that Wolfram came walking down the street. He
was walking fast, with his head down, as he used to do. He came up the
path, then crossed the window from left to right. I ran to the door to
let him in. Then I woke up and knew that he was coming with me to
Ireland. On Dec 8 he had told me "Now I will take you to
Killarney" |
|
|
On the
morning of the 15th - Thurs - Margaret and I drove to Anascaul, and
called at the South Pole Inn. We asked about houses to rent and were
directed up behind the church to see some new build. They weren't
finished. In the churchyard saw a gravestone with the name
"Curtin" - Wolf and I have cause to remember Kirton End - and
I used "Curtin End" as a place name in a book we were
planning. |
|
|
|
We then drove
down to Dingle (left) to see the agent Padraig Lynch. He told us he had
three houses,
but could not take us to see them that day as he had meetings. We
arranged to meet him next day (Fri 16) at the South Pole (right). |
|
|
|
This is the
first house he showed us - in Anascaul. This had four bedrooms and was
new build. It was amazing and had a huge kitchen. My I would have loved
it, but it was far too big for one, it would have been ridiculous. The
other house in Anascaul had gone, then he showed us this house (right)
at Inch. |
|
|
|
Another view
of the house and the view over the bay. This house is absolutely perfect
for me, in location and size. Padraig told me he was not paid to let
this house, it belonged to a friend, so I would have to deal with him
direct. It should have been vacant, but the people had just extended the
lease for another month, six weeks at the outside. |
|
I
wanted to see inside but was told this was not possible. This was a bit
frustrating. However, Padraig told me to go and look through the windows
and get some idea.
The room to the left at the front is a small bedroom, the rest of the
front of the house is one big room - kitchen one end, and an open fire
at the other. There are two other bedrooms at the back, one big,
one small. The small one would make a nice reading/consulting room and
the bedroom at the front would be marvellous for an office, overlooking
the sea. There is land in front of the house - just grass. |
|
|
I was frustrated at not being able to get in.
On one of the windowsills at the back were some tarot cards of an
unusual design. One was the Peace card - Ace of Cups - another looked
like it might be the World. The agent drove us back to the South Pole. I
felt I had not had enough time at the cottage to get the feel of it, so
Margaret and I drove back there and I read the cards to see what they
thought of it. To do this I use a 9-card spread. First I shuffle the
cards and cut into three piles. I decide on the question, then only look
at the top 3 cards for the answer. When this has been decided I look at
the two cards behind each of the top 3 for more information. The
question was, "Is This It?" |
The
top 3 cards were: Hanged Man, 10 Wands, Ace Cups. That was interesting,
that one of the cards seen in the cottage had come up. The meaning of
these three was, "You have not been able to go forward until now,
you were being delayed for a reason. Now you can finish up with the
past, you will have time to wind up all your affairs properly. You will
then set them aside and never return to that part of your life again.
You will find peace and tranquillity here." I think you will agree
this was an answer to the question. Now I could turn up the two cards
following each of these three.
Taking the first line, the Hanged Man
represents a situation where no matter how much effort you put in, you
would get nowhere. But when it turns up it signifies that this period is
now at an end, and you will move forward. Following this card is the
High Priestess, in a sense my card, as this is what I am, but not my
personal card, which I did not know at this stage would be the next to
come up. Just the fact that these two cards which represent me came up,
shows that I am on the right track. If we take them as 'background
information' then they are saying that it was the gods who were holding
things up, for their own reasons. The magical times were not right until
now. My own card coming up, Queen of Pentacles, indicates that, acting
as this card does, I was willing to be patient and wait until the time
is right, since for this Queen, everything is in balance.
Following down from the Ten of Wands,
the finishing-up card, beneath that is Victory, the 6 of Wands. This
shows me getting exactly what I set out to get, but with just that
little bit extra, that makes people say, "Didn't she do well!"
It shows a person who gets more than she expected and is very pleased
with the result. Behind this card I turned up the 3 of Swords. This card
shows sorrow which is short-lived and is connected with the sad parts of
change. This is to be expected as there are always things and people to
be missed.
Following down from the Ace of Cups -
I always call this the Peace card. This is the only Ace that does not
require effort - it promises peace and tranquillity and an end of
searching. I said to Margaret that this card represented the future, and
that the cards behind it would show what would be waiting for me here.
Then I turned up the next card and it was Wolfram's card! The Prince of
Swords was always his card. So he will be there with me. The next card
was the Prince of Pentacles. This card does not reveal its meaning to
me. It could represent further study and learning which I will do, or it
could represent a man I will come to know. If so, he will be a man who
is interested in the same things I am, and could be someone who wants to
learn from me.
This was an amazingly good reading, as four cards out of the nine
had personal significance
for me. |

Saturday
we went to the church to prepare the hole for planting the tree. Fergus
wanted to cut the first sod. Johnny is to his left, with Abby in the
foreground, and Bertie looking at the camera. After the digging Heidi
took me to meet Sid and
Tanya, two friends of hers who are selling up and going to back to
Australia. Below is their cottage. It reminded me of the gingerbread
house in Hansel and Gretel. Sid did not think I should go and live at
Inch, like most people he felt it was too isolated, and he thought
Milltown was the best place for me. |

|
|
There is a big
alternative community there, and plenty going on. There is an organic
market once a week, and a djembe group. He said Joan's cafe was the
centre of all this and that I should pay her a visit. When I went home
and told Margaret, she said that she had been at school with Joan! We
decided we would go on Monday. (I saw Heidi's new house, it is lovely) |
