View of wisteria terrace.
Wolf built this flagged area which we called The Terrace, in 1997, to
celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. As we were married on the 10th
of October (10/10) we felt the 10th anniversary was something to
celebrate. That night there was a conjunction of the Full Moon with
Jupiter. At 10pm we shot a rocket at the Moon - all our friends were
there, and we had a party in the large greenhouse. After Wolf left in
2003 I renewed the pergola affair over the terrace, I had to dismantle
it and lay the wisteria on the ground, build the new structure, then
manually heave the quite considerable bulk of it up and over the
structure. It worked a treat, the poles have held through all the
storms, and the wisteria goes on getting better each year. There is also
a pink clematis montana on the end facing you as you look at the
picture, and at the back of the terrace (right of pic) a Lancashire
rambler rose. On the left (front) there is a climbing hydrangea and
another clematic. There's my hammock! |

There's
another view of the terrace. This is on Plot 2 by the way. (see
Plan) |

Tea on the
terrace anyone? This area is at the far end of the terrace, adjoining
Plot 1. Behind is a greengage tree, in front a small planting of
miniature conifers, the last plants that Wolf and I bought together. |

The
Circle, on Plot 2, is my pride and joy. Wolf created it for me some
years ago. It runs across the entire width of the plot, which is about
32 feet. The circle itself is 28feet in diameter and has four altars
oriented to the four directions. The North Altar points straight to
Blacko Tower. The Entrance is in the NorthEast, as is traditional,
and I have planted two hawthorns, one red, one white, on either side. So
far they havent flowerd. I grew one from a cutting taken from the
red hawthorn in Barrowford Park, the other is a small self-seed from the
allotment. In the background is the large polygreenhouse, its roof in a
sorry state after the winds got in and tore it off. I havent replaced it
as I am not sure what I am doing or where I am going! (or not!). In the
foreground is the South Altar. |

In this
picture of the Circle you can see the canal in the background - the
light on the water. |

In this
view of the circle you look through the hawthorn arch and can see the
Tea Terrace in the background. You can see the West Altar on the right
and the East altar on the Left |
