Bench at top of small
garden
"small garden" was
created three years ago from Plot 3. It has a small lawn (6x4) at the
top and two circular beds |
|
This is the view from the
bench at the top of the garden. You can see the two circular beds. (and
Benji). To the right you can see a bit of the rose arch and the
"trellis" I have constructed to train the rose along. It is a
golden climber called "Alchemist" - one of the David Austin
old-fashioned roses. We bought two for the garden at home and they
have gone wild. I grew two more from cuttings and these are planted
either side of the rose arch. |

A view of the rose arch.
Someone was taking it down to the canal to throw away, so I told them to
bring it in the allotment and I would have it. They had sawed it down
the middle to remove it, so I tied it up with blue rope (as you can
see). In the foreground is the Bridal Wreath spirea just beginning
to flower. |
|
A bit better idea of the rose
arch and connected trellis can be got from this. The trellis is a bit of
a makeshift thing - Sandy who has the allotment opposite chucked his
conifer trees over my fence and I stacked them last winter thinking they
would come in useful. I used the lighter ones for this project and
the heavier ones I am now using for the african hut. |

Another view of the willow
arch, and you can see the polytunnel (on plot 1) in the background. |
