Next stop Park
Road, to visit No.1, the house where Mum was born in 1917 and grew up
with her sister and four brothers. We were not able to go inside as the
occupants were not at home.

Mum went up
the front path to the door, then we went round to look at the back.

We had packed
quite a lot into the morning, and now it was time to head off towards
Liversedge. Geoff had found a good place on the internet, Healds Hall
Hotel, and we thought once we were there we could relax,
have a good lunch, and head up to Norristhorpe School, our next stop, in
time for our appointment at 2pm. Here's Mum thinking it is time for
lunch. She was in for a long wait.

We
selected from the "Express Menu" and confidently expected to
be comfortably out in an hour. Twenty-five minutes later, we were still
waiting to order.

Here
we are having lunch. The food was excellent, but we did not leave until
2pm - the time we were due at Norristhorpe School. James' SatNav then
proceeded to take us to Hartshead School, claiming this was the only
School Lane in the area. Wrong! We were horribly late at Norristhorpe.

Leaving Healds Hall, the owner shows us a photograph of the way it
looked in 1957, when it was a private house. Since none of us were in
the social bracket that gets asked to such houses, it left us cold. None
of us remembered anything about the house.
