A facsimile reproduction of a book published in 1780, by Daniel Wildman, who kept bees at his premises in London, and sold swarms, hives and honey. He became famous for his public appearances with his trained troupe of bees at Dobney's, a pleasure garden of the time.

"He rides, standing upright, one foot on the saddle and the other on the horse's neck, with a curious mask of bees on his face, with the bridle in his mouth, and by firing a pistol makes one part of the bees march over a table and the other swarm in the air and return to their places again."

He seems to have earned his title of "Bee Master"; his book describes his "new-invented hives" and is full of good advice which any beekeeper will find useful, even today, perhaps especially today, where we have strayed so far from the natural methods of keeping bees that we have seriously jeopardised their future, and, necessarily, ours.
