804 miles in
England & Europe
|
|
In 1995 I and my
late partner Wolf set off from Leeds and cycled to Felixstowe through
Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. We sailed to
Zeebrugge on the seventh day, and got the train from there to
Strasbourg, arriving at 4am and cycling to Ringsheim, Baden Wurttemberg,
where we stayed three weeks exploring the area. On August 8 we set
off, crossed the Rhein and the Vogesen Mountains on the first day, then
cycled along the river valleys to Belgium, taking ten days to reach the
coast. (Weather excellent, brilliant trip, loved it - even
though we were robbed on the second day out from Germany) |
Black Forest |
|
In 2001 we
decided on a return to the Black Forest, but away from His Mother, fear
of which had kept us away six years. I loved the forest, and the
area around Neukirch felt
like my spiritual home. Receiving an unexpected sum of money later
in the year, we went back for a second look. Loved it even more |
Lake Constance
(Bodensee) |
|
In 2002 we went
again to Neukirch, but for our second week travelled down to Bodensee
and stayed in a flat
there. We saw a few of the sights around the Lake, the pile
dwellings being the thing I most wanted to see, and most enjoyed. |
